Day 19: Travel to Paris

August 7, 2014 Paris was where Henri, our driver, had to leave us. It was sad seeing him go. He is such an excellent driver and his bus was so comfy. After a short break at the hotel we received a Paris Metro orientation. There are 16 different lines. We took the Metro to Notre Dame Cathedral and on the way, Reid nearly had his pocket picked! It was raining really hard when we got to the Cathedral and we had to stand in line for awhile before entering. We were glad to have brought some raingear along or we would've gotten soaked. After reluctantly leaving the Cathedral, we hurried over to San Chapelle. There were over 1100 stained glass panels. As Reid said, it was like walking into a giant jewelry box. The rest of day we were on our own. We spent time relaxing in Luxembourg Gardens, eating dinner in the Latin Quarter, and visiting the Musee D'Orsay where we stayed until closing time. After the last weeks of Renaissance art, the Impressionist paintings were very refreshing. We decided to walk back to our hotel instead of taking the Metro and got our first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower illuminated.

Tips!

# Always travel with a small umbrella or water repellent hoodie

# Speak French as best you can. It is fun!

# Make sure to visit Luxembourg Gardens
