Day 17: A free day in the Swiss Alps

August 5, 2014 After some bread and hot chocolate, we left to catch the cable car up the Schilthorn Mountain. We had to transfer to a few different lines to reach the top, Piz Gloria, at 10,000 feet. It was cold on the observation deck. Though it was a little foggy, snow capped mountains kept coming in and out of view. We were literally up in the clouds. The James Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was filmed here and inside there was a little museum dedicated to the movie and a revolving restaurant where we had coffee.

Later we went down to Mürren for lunch and took a mountain hike. There happened to be a little music festival in our town that night featuring yodelers, Swiss dancers, a flag thrower and a local band. It was a perfect ending to our time in Switzerland.

Tips!

# The 007 museum was a blast!

# Going to the top of the Schilthorn is a great experience no matter what the weather is like

# Do lots of hiking. We found a hidden waterfall!
