Day 20: Paris

August 8, 2014 The Louvre was the most impressive art museum we had ever been to. You couldn't make a 360 degree turn without bumping into a famous painting or sculpture (or another tourist for that matter!). Our museum guide was extremely knowledgeable and very interesting. We saw Venus de Milo, Winged Victory, Napoleon's Coronation by David, The Raft of the Medusa and, of course the Mona Lisa. Upon leaving the museum we went for quiche at a restaurant in the mall inside the Louvre. Then we walked up the Champs Elysses to the Arc de Triumphe. Edward took a photo of MacDonald's golden arches in front of the Arc. We took the Metro to the Carnavalet Museum and enjoyed seeing the artifacts, rooms with period furniture, and paintings. It was a quiet, out of the way museum and we had a great time there. Our final group dinner was in the upstairs of a restaurant which had floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the city streets. At dinner we each shared a personal highlight of the tour. It was very emotional. Reid gave everyone a small symbol of our amazing journey together.
