Day 16: Travel to the Swiss Alps and the Lauterbrunnen Valley

August 4, 2014 Today was the longest bus day of the tour but there were breathtaking views as we drove through the Alps and into Switzerland. The height and winding-ness of the road was both frightening and thrilling. We saw giant ice glaciers and roaring waterfalls and forests of dark green spruce trees. When we stopped for a photo op, we found a pile of snow and had a snowball fight. After arriving at our hotel, the only one in the small backdoor village, we changed into pants and sweaters and went downstairs for the fondue making demo. We had a little suite of rooms with a balcony and views of the misty Swiss Alps.
