Day 7: Royal Castles and a Luge

July 26, 2014 Our next hotel, in Reutte, Austria, was comfortable and offered mountain views. It even had an indoor pool and sauna to the delight of the kids. The air in Austria is Grade 1 and the water in the clear lakes looks green due to the minerals in the soil. Our plan for the day was to visit castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, considered to be among the most beautiful castles in the world. Judging by the size of the crowds, they certainly must be. We had timed entrance tickets to Neuschwanstein but arrived exactly two minutes past our expiration time and were not allowed in. Our guide got new tickets for later in the afternoon and we went to the luge track while we waited. The luge was so much fun!! And, the castles did not disappoint!!

Tips!

# The castle lines are long

# Be prepared for lots of strenuous stair climbing

# Put your pedal to the metal on the luge!
